Submission Specs

Software:

Macintosh platform, InDesign CS2, QuarkXpress 3.3-6.0, Illustrator 4.0-10, Photoshop 3.0-6.0, Acrobat 4.0-7.0.

Adobe PDF (preferred)

We can accept PDFs if produced properly. Please be advised that we are unable to make any corrections to files sent in PDF format.

• Acrobat versions 4.0-7.0. compatible.
• All fonts must be fully embedded.
• Grayscale mode for black & white ads/CMYK mode for color ads.
• Any transparent elements must be flattened and any blends expanded in native application before saving as a PDF.

Fonts:

Adobe PostScript Type 1 fonts. We cannot guarantee any font other than Adobe PostScript Type 1 fonts. We reserve the right to substitute a missing font with a similar font from our library to meet our deadlines. ** We cannot accept PC fonts, TrueType fonts or Multiple Master fonts. *** Include only those fonts used in your document, along with those used in embedded graphics. To minimize potential problems, fonts within embedded graphics should be converted to outline.

Placed Graphics:

.TIF and .EPS formats only. We do not accept ads saved as JPEGS. All linked graphics must be included with the document (please collect for output). Placed images should be scaled no more than +/- 15% within page layout program. Inside Paper (35# bright white stock):

• 85 lpi/300 dpi
• 1200 dpi for bitmap images (line art).
  Cover (50# bright white stock): 133 lpi/300 dpi
• 1200 dpi for bitmap images (line art)

Ink density must be between 220 and 240 to reproduce correctly. Our medium experiences a 20-30% dot gain.

Spot Color:

All graphic elements for spot color ads should be set up as CMYK. Please include printed separations for reference. Inside Paper (35# bright white stock):

• 85 lpi/300 dpi
• 1200 dpi for bitmap images
• Cover (50# bright white stock):
  133 lpi/300 dpi
• 1200 dpi for bitmap images
